THE LIBRARY

Some of the Library Rules:

The Library users are required to enter the library by swiping the University ID card. The library is comprised of three types collections: Main, Short and Core. Main collection items may be borrowed for 6 weeks, short items for 1 week and core items for a day. The students and staff are able to borrow up to 35 items in total.

There are a number of photocopiers located in the building. In order to use them one need to purchase a photocopying card from the dispensers. The card costs £3 and can top it up using the revaluer machine; A4 black and white copying costs 5 pence per sheet. The University Library is using “Rewritable radio Frequency Identify Directory.

Core Collections: One can take maximum 5 items at a time. Next day all are required to return. If not, a fine will be £1 for first hour, then 50 pence per hour up to £5 for the first day. If the item is still on loan the fine rises by a further £1 each subsequent day. There are no renewals for the core collections.

Short loan (yellow label): These books can be borrowed for 7 days. The fine for these books will be 50 pence per item per day. Renewals are unlimited unless required by another user.

Audiovisual: Can be borrowed for 7 days. The fine is 50 pence per item per day. Renewals are unlimited unless required by another user.

Documents: Can be kept for 6 weeks if there is no demand and if one demands/reserves then loan period will be reduced to two weeks. The fine for such items will be 25 pence per item per day. If the items are recalled and don’t return then such items are charged at £1 per item per day.

Long loan: is available for 6 weeks if there is no demand and if one demands/reserves then loan period will be reduced to two weeks. The fine for such items will be 25 pence per item per day. If the items are recalled and don’t return then such items are charged at £1 per item per day.

Interlibrary Loans: This facility is available for three weeks. If the items are recalled and don’t return then such items are charged at 50 pence per item per day.

Important: User will be unable to renew, if fines/charges are £10 or more or fines are outstanding for 28 days or more or the item has been reserved or recalled.
