Dear Sir, Thanks a lot for providing nice information about Physics courses at Sussex University. All of their methods are very systematic and elegant. Sir, for the course “Applications of Mechanics” you showed us one lecture on Rocket Motion which contains lot of mathematical equations. Does the Professor use only the powerpoint presentation or writes on the board? Sir, how many students are there in classroom for the course "Applications of Mechanics"? Have they got batches for workshop on this course? During the workshop does the Professor attend every individual student as we do here for practicals? Good day Sir... Ragards Yatin
Thanks for everything. In fact it is an enriching experience to know the facts related to Physics teaching-learning methods adopted by Sussex University.Sir, can you obtain the details (At least the list of experiments) of laboratory components(F.3080, F.3185, F.3186) offered for undergraduate physics course.
There is a STFC Return to research support bursary fellowship available at Sussex University. Is it open for applicants from other countries? Does Physics Department has such fellowship? If,it is available then what are the essential and desirable qualifications they look at for a foreign applicant.
Dear Yatin, Teachers use powerpoint slides for teaching and do write on white boards if required. There were 70-80 students for this course course. There are two batches for workshop. Teachers (3-4)attend each and every student during workshops.
Thank you Sir. Sir, the workshops they conduct under this course: Applications of Mechanics, what are they? Is it some sort of regular lab work or designing and repairing machines? What is nature of this workshop and in 1 hr duration what exactly they do? Is there any way that we can get some more information about these workshops? Regards. Ananya
Dear Dr. Ananya, Problems/Exercises are given to the students to solve in the workshops. If you want to see, I can show you during the presentations of other subjects.
Thank you Sir. I am interested in their lab work (I thought workshop means some sort of lab work). If it is problem solving sessions then I can understand. Sir, you need not take pain for that. Regards. Ananya
sorry sir for the first comment sent actually wanted to know about their physics practicals, that does the all students in one year (first year)have to perform same experiment or they are different, depending on which credit they are opting for?
Dear sir We wanted to know what is the criteria required for a post graduate student to enter the research field there. is only GRE and Toefl the criteria for selection?
dear sir thank you sir for reply. sir will it be possible for you to sent the list of experiment that the students perform in the course Application of Mechanics
Dear Brenda and Vaishali, The student interested in joining D.Phil (Ph.D.) programme at Sussex is required to submit the research proposal/s to the School of Physics and Astronomy. The language TOEFL score minimum 90 is required. GRE is not required.
