Please send your comments on teaching, learning, assessment methods and resources used in one of the courses in Economics which you witnessed today.

  1. Yesterday’s interaction with you was quite interesting. It helped us to compare our courses here with those of Sussex. What was interesting to know was the course combinations they provide with economics. The subject combinations are quite related. I wish we could get to know more about the online test they conduct.

  2. Sir, the course material for Economics is same and what we teach over here is same. I find no difference. What we ask in the form of questions to students is assignment over there. But I forgot to ask you (1)whether there is any cut-off percent for admission to Economics course at Sussex University undergraduate level, if so what's that? (2) How do the faculties teach in the class? (3)What is the extent of use of ICT in the classroom? (4)What is the level of students at the time of admission? The questions may seem little stupid, but for me, very significant. Mazumdar

  3. Yesterday's interaction with you was indeed very helpful and interesting. It was nice to see how well they have organized everything especially their lecture notes and assignments. It was also nice to know that what we teach here is almost the same as what they do there, although i thought it would be different.
Sir, I wanted to know whether they conduct any kind of activity in the department of Economics wherein they invite students from other universities to participate.

  4. Sir, the interaction we had yesterday was really nice. It was quite interesting to see the similarities in the course content. Assignments have also been similar. What I could gather is that they lay emphasis on the application of the knowledge of concepts. The lecture notes of Micro and macro Economics interested me, specially since the syllabus is very similar to the XII standard syllabus. I would like to know if besides the lecture and seminar method, what other method is used to teach these courses(micro & macro economics)?
Thank you for the presentation Sir.

  5. Dear Dr. Travassos,

Yes, I will hold another session on online test.

    Dear Dr. Mazumdar,

Yes, there are certain minimum qualifications required at the entry level. The students seeking admission to B.A. Economics should have above BBB (this is European Baccalaureate grade) means above 75% and 6.5 score in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). For Indian students it is 75-80% in Std. XII examinations with 90 score in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
I have attended few lectures in Economics. The teachers use ICT extensively in the class room and the lectures are podcasted. The level of students in the subject is not determined but the qualification at the entry level decides.
    Your queries were relevant.

    Dear Ms. Danica,

All Schools and Departments have their associations. The Department of Economics conducts seminars every week.

    Dear Mrs. Rebeca,

The other methods of teaching are tutorials and assignments.

  6. Dear Sir, thank you for your reply. It was nice to know that each department there have their own associations which probably makes it easier to conduct activities.
